Handling and Storage

Due to its toxic and corrosive nature, proper handling and storage of boron trifluoride are crucial.  The gas should be stored in appropriate gas cylinders, and proper ventilation is necessary when handling it.  Personal protective equipment, such as goggles, gloves, and respiratory protection, is also essential when working with BF3.

Environmental Impact

Although boron trifluoride is an effective welding aid, it is essential to consider its environmental impact.  The gas is a greenhouse gas and can contribute to global warming if released into the atmosphere in large quantities.  As a result, proper containment and disposal procedures must be in place to minimize any potential environmental harm.
